I may have a solution to your problem of getting a tight connection. Use a 1" threaded PVC coupler (with only one end threaded). Then take a 2L soda bottle cap with the inside circumference removed (cut, melted, punched out, etc...). Then glue the modified cap into the threaded end. It will make a tight fit even without the glue. The other end glue to your 3/4" PVC pipe (you can look at my set on on my web quest http://www.zunal.com/teacherspage.php?w=53939- I'm a middle school teacher). The best of luck Hey,
